Roy Slack

Roy Slack’s expertise in engineering and stewardship in safety make him one of our industry’s greats. His impact has been global, working with JS Redpath Limited, BLM Mining Services, and as the founder of his own consultancy, Mine Project Services. In 1998, Roy started Cementation’s operations in NA as the company’s president and helped it grow into one of the largest mine contracting organizations in the world. The company is best in class, consistently recognized as one of “Canada’s Top 100 Employers” and winning gold as a Safest Employer in Canada. 

Roy was a member of Ontario’s first Prevention Council to advise the government on workplace safety. He is a past President of the Canadian Institute of Mining, Metallurgy and Petroleum (CIM), was granted a CIM Fellowship, and currently serves on the executive of the CIM Health and Safety Society. 

Credentials: Honorary Doctorate from Nipissing University. A CIM Fellowship. Engineer’s Medal for Entrepreneurship by the Professional Engineers of Ontario, Metal Mining Society Award by CIM, Lifetime member of the Ontario Mine Contractors Safety Association (OMCSA), MineConnect Hall of Fame Member, Paul Harris Fellow by Rotary International. A degree in Mining Engineering from Queen’s University.
